Kathryn “Kitty” Boardway MSC, LMFT

Welcome! I am one of the the Owners and Clinical Directors of Grounded Roots Mental Health Therapy and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). With over a decade of experience in mental health care, I am dedicated to providing compassionate support to a diverse range of clients. My work has included supporting children with Autism, foster youth, survivors of sex trafficking, and adults navigating severe mental health challenges. My primary focus is helping individuals who have endured traumatic events in both childhood and adulthood.

Most recently, I served as the Clinical Director for a specialized geriatric case management program and have been in private practice for several years. I bring this wealth of experience to my current role, helping clients find understanding, support, and tools for resilience.

My approach is client-centered, emphasizing a safe and compassionate environment for individuals facing challenges such as trauma, co-dependence, depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, schizophrenia, and complex family dynamics. To meet each client’s unique needs, I incorporate a range of therapeutic techniques, including:

•EMDR for trauma healing, guiding clients to process and move beyond painful experiences,

•CBT for understanding thoughts and beliefs, promoting insight and clarity, and

•DBT for transforming unwanted behaviors into healthier, more effective patterns.

In addition to these techniques, I am trained in Seeking Safety, Wellness Recovery Action Plans, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This diverse training ensures I can offer tailored support for each client.

My goal is to empower my clients toward sustainable wellness, helping them move from surviving to truly thriving. Through a heart-centered approach, I strive to foster healing, growth, and the discovery of lasting fulfillment.
